Writing in the Weekly Standard, William J. Walsh explains (for the benefit of dummies like me) why an improved relationship between us and Turkey is important.
I, for one, would love to visit a friendly Turkey sometime soon. I wanted to go there in 1995 while I was in Greece, but ran out of money. But I'd love to be there in Anatolia, visiting all of the great Greek and Roman ruins, sipping that nasty coffee, and smoking hookahs with the locals.
So, yeah, let's have some Turko-American concord. Especially if it will piss off the Surly Waiter on the Elysees.
