Courtesy of Blackfive, here is a poem by Russ Vaughn (2d Bn, 327th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division, Vietnam 65-66) about John Kerry's visit to Paris to meet with the Viet Cong and the Communists. Here's how it ends:

The vindication we'll accept
In settling up this long-held debt,
Is each of us will do his best
To deny you, John, your lifelong quest.

Listen carefully John to what we say,
November 2nd is Veterans' Day.

None of the Bush-haters want to admit it, but there's a whole lot of people out there who don't need any prompting to kick Kerry's ass for what he did to sabotage our efforts in Viet Nam. These Kerrion would have you believe that the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth are a creature of the Bush campaign but, in reality, they are the natural consequence of men who wish to make their case to History that they did serve honorably and that John Kerry did exploit them for his own gain.

One more battle to win, gentlemen.

Looking at this, it sounds like you Republicans are digging a hole to house the same bottomless pit of senseless hatred for the Kerry Administration that you created for the Clinton Administration. Face facts, gentlemen, the American people deserve more--need more--than hatred to see them through these dangerous years. They deserve more than the dissembling and fear mongering Bush has given them. 9/11 happened on his watch: he's responsible.

Nobody seems to want to talk about the fact that the architects of the Viet Nam war have admitted that the Gulf of Tonkin incident was manufactured and then spun so that the U.S. could engage in a war for vague, undefined reasons. This was a war that took over 11 years and cost more than 56,000 lives, nearly driving the country into a deficit depression. The most candid statement was one made by Henry Kissinger when he stated that our "main adversaries" needed to see that "we were willing to engage in a war of attrition in order to counter the spread of communism." (Worked too, didn't it?"
What he failed to realize was that the main adversaries were not really very impressed by our efforts in Viet Nam, seeing as how we were unable to understand how post-colonial "national liberation" movements would accept help from anyone and everyone to achieve their goals when pressed.
Nobody seemed to take heed of the fact that a certain mr. Ho chi minh asked for help from the U.S. in setting up a post-war government after the Japanese got the boot.
Of course, Dick Cheney wasn't about to get thrown into the meat grinder because he had "other priorities", Neither was George W. Bush.
Seems like these veterans have a blurry and convoluted sense of idealism. Blame the French, Blame Mcnamara or Kennedy or LBJ. Wait, let's blame Kerry even though he voted against Republican efforts to drasitcally reduce veterans benefits.
Yes, let's keep talking about Viet Nam, because everybody loves a war story.

Get serious. The only motive behind the Kerry candidacy is hatred of the President. Too few Dhimmicrats are actually supporting Kerry himself; they just want to defeat the President.

Oh, and I'm not a Republican; I'm a Republican sympathizer, much as you are an Islamofascist sympathizer.
