Wealth Can't Buy You Taste
What the hell is Serena Williams wearing? Knee-high leather boots and some crazy-assed Mad Max jacket-thing? She looks silly. Dick Enberg says she "loves fashion," but it's obvious that she hates it. Good thing she's got a smokin' body under all that crap.

On another US Open-related note, one of my other favorite tennis bodies, Mary Pierce, made it through to the round of 16 yesterday, beating Maria Sharapova. Pierce was designed in the workshop in the secret porn wing of God's mansion. It would be nice to see her win one last major before she retires.

Hair Dynamics
Thanks to some good genes, I have a respectable head of hair. As a child, it was a nice Hitler Youth-blonde, very straight and spikey. My Grandma always tried to put a right-handed part in it, which it retained for quite some time, but is now only evident in a widow's peak on that side. Color-wise, it went through various shades of dark honey and dead auburn, while becoming preposterously kinky and full of waves as I passed through puberty. Now it is just brown, but turning very white.

The reason I am telling you this is because the way my hair turned out (or, I could say "showed up") today is just laughable. It is literally at a 45 degree angle from my right to left: high over my widow's peak and cascading down over my left forehead. It makes no difference what I try, it will obey no law but its own.

I only shampoo it about once a week or so and, when I do, it loses all control of itself and reverts to what it must have been like when I was a small child. There is a whole range of possible "outcomes" for my daily do ---depending entirely upon how much I put a towel to it and when I actually brush it. If I don't dry it enough and brush it back immediately, it will conform to the contours of my head; if I wait around too long to brush it after drying it too thoroughly, it will stay a crazy-assed bouffant or pompadour all day long.

Anyway, it's probably time for my next flat-top.

Know Your Place
We already know about the Kerrion's shameless hypocrisy in blasting Bush for going to war in Iraq when their own man voted to do the same, but we really have to get the premise of the joke, too.

Kerry complains that this Administration misled us into a war based on false evidence. But the President acted on the same evidence available to Kerry ---and did so responsibly. Yeah, okay. But if the President and Kerry both believed the same things (that Saddam had to be removed because of the actual or potential threat he posed ---and that we should use force to do it, if necessary), then what is the underlying assumption in Kerry's complaint?

That the moral and logical aspects of consent are inconsequential to the actual execution of the deed agreed to.

Which is to say that John Kerry doesn't know his place. As a legislator, he can give his consent to something, but he cannot be the one to execute the action required. That would be the President's job. Therefore, Kerry must believe that his own choices in this war ---whatever they have been--- are exonerated because he does not have the same authority that George W. Bush has. And the Kerrion obviously believe this, too, because they do not seem to ever hold him accountable for his consent. They have stripped it of its moral and logical content.

Isn't that arrogant? Kerry's hypocrisy is allowed to go unchecked simply because he's not the President! And he tells us as much every day: he would have "done things differently" and he disagrees with the "process" that President Bush undertook. Yeah? Well, here's some news, Flipper: that isn't your role; it's his.

Damn that Howard Dean! He took a perfectly good anti-war activist and made him into, uh, well...never mind.

Boo!
The boys at the Power Line are hopping mad about an Associated Press wire story released today which, well, just read the way it first ran:

WEST ALLIS, Wis. - President Bush (news - web sites) on Friday wished Bill Clinton (news - web sites) "best wishes for a swift and speedy recovery." "He's is in our thoughts and prayers," Bush said at a campaign rally. Bush's audience of thousands in West Allis, Wis., booed. Bush did nothing to stop them. Bush offered his wishes while campaigning one day after accepting the presidential nomination at the Republican National Convention in New York. Clinton was hospitalized in New York after complaining of mild chest pain and shortness of breath. Bush recently praised Clinton when the former president went to the White House for the unveiling of his official portrait. He lauded Clinton for his knowledge, compassion and "the forward-looking spirit that Americans like in a president."

Yeah, well, throughout the day, this story went through several [revisions] when it became overwhelmingly clear that Tom Hays, the reporter who filed the story, had made up the boldfaced lines above.

Underrated
Charles Krauthammer reiterates what has to be one of the most underrated successes of this President's war against the terrorists:

John Kerry tells us we have to wage a more sensitive war where we acquiesce more to "allies." O.K., let's talk allies. Which is the single most crucial ally in the war on terrorism? France? Germany? Russia? No. Pakistan. Pakistan made possible the destruction of the Taliban, and has been turning over to us the most important al-Qaeda figures ever captured. How did Bush turn the world's foremost supporter of the Taliban into our most critical ally against them? Sensitivity? Two days after 9/11, Bush had his Secretary of State deliver an ultimatum to the Pakistanis: Join us or else. They joined. That is leadership.

It is, indeed, one of the least likely realignments in our foreign policy structure, but it has been crucial. Any credit to this warmongering unilateralist? Nope. It is easily dismissed by an anti-war Left that has no competence for strategic thought. Instead, the approval of France and Germany means everything to these people. But why?

Remember: every time you hear Kerry or the Breck Girl piss and moan about how we have gone it alone or have damaged our alliances, you have to know that they are only talking about a handful of decadent pacificist states in the heart of Europe. We don't need them in our fight to liberate Iraq and never did. Kerry would have you believe that they alone can confer legitimacy on our efforts there, but that is garbage. That is submitting our national security interests to others ---something he claims he'd never do.

John Kerry cannot be allowed to win. He is a natural ally to appeasers and sell-outs. And don't tell me about goddamned Viet Nam, either. It doesn't matter anymore.

The Most Harrowing Faces You'll See Today
Just look in that child's eyes. And in his mother's. They weren't brought to their knees and made to face the prospect of death by what CNN wants to call "hostage-takers" and "fighters" ---they were terrorized by Muslim vermin who should, at the least, be called terrorists.

Why can't Dhimmicrats and their Big Media shills call these filthy Submitters by their name? They are The Enemy of Civilization. They are Murderers of Jews and Christians. They are not going to stop "taking hostages" or stop being "rebels" because they are psychopaths who believe in Paradise.

Send them there. By the millions.

"Liberty's Century"
The President did a beautiful job last night. And the most important thing he accomplished was to articulate better than he ever has before, I believe, the rationale for the War for Iraq. For that is the Second Great Transgression he committed against the Left (the First being his "stolen" election). But if what he said last night does not acquit his actions in the eyes of these haters and hypocrites, then nothing will.

The President put the case thusly: Iraq will be free and democratic ---and this will begin a transformation of the Arab and Muslim world that will make us safer. The world cannot abide a culture of tyranny and extremist dogma such as what has seized Islam. And, so, those people will either embrace liberty or they will be destroyed.

If those were not his actual words, they are, nonetheless, manifest in his actions.

The anti-war Left has sickened itself on paranoia and hatred, never stopping to consider that what President Bush is fighting for is the liberation of hundreds of millions of people. Nor do the anti-war Bush-haters recognize that this is a liberal value he seeks for those whom these same Leftists are supposed to be concerned for, but are not. Instead, these violence-minded "pacifists" attempt to slur and vilify our military with the crimes and derelictions of a few. Sound familiar? It should. We are faced with large segments of our society that are recapitulating the mistrust and demonization once practiced by the man they now wish to see replace our President. It is a great shame and, with some, even worse than that.

I am proud of George W. Bush and I believe he is a great President in an important time. I trust him and am confident in his resolve.

His defeat would be a huge blow to our country's security. But his victory will be a triumph against the enemies of Civilization.

If you believe as I do, stand with him and work to defeat our enemies, both foreign and domestic.

I'm watching a replay of Kerry's speech tonight right now on C-SPAN ---and it's just a huge fucking mistake. It's boring and, well, Kerry-like.

Who put him up to this? Lockhart? I haven't a clue. But it is the most ill-considered thing he's done in several days. Maybe weeks.

He'll regret it when he wakes up today.

It is, as Mort Kondracke said, incredibly petty.

A Phoney Fights Back
Oh. That's nice. John Kerry's spitting mad at Dick Cheney for criticizing him last night, so he's decided to hit back by questioning the Vice President's deferments during the Viet Nam War.

Boooring.

Back to Viet Nam, are we? Just when you thought that this phoney fuck had had enough of Viet Nam the past month to last him the rest of his life, he wants to go back in.

Okay. Compare yourself to Cheney all you want, Flipper. But if you think that your military record excuses your secret meetings with the Viet Cong and the Communist North Vietnamese during the war, you're about to find out different.

Jeeze, did you see that speech Kerry gave today to the American Legion? Whew! He broke tradition to deliver that? You could actually see the stink lines coming off of that thing.

We'll Always Have Paris
Unfortunately, the Kerry Spot, which is a kind of blog appearing at National Review Online (and written daily by Jim Geraghty), doesn't provide hyperlinks to each of its entries. So, I must reproduce the whole of this particular entry below.

I really must.

Months ago, I was chatting with a Republican who is very, very knowledgeable about Kerry and I mentioned Kerry's 1971 travels to Paris, and meetings with Madame Nguyen Thi Binh. Binh had been a member of the Central Committee for the National Front for the Liberation of the South, and was now Foreign Minister of the Provisional Revolutionary Government (PRG) of South Vietnam. The military arm of the PRG was widely known as the Viet Cong, just as Madame Binh was widely recognized as the Viet Cong delegate to the conference.

"Yeah, I've heard about that," the Republican said. "I've heard a lot of interesting things about that, but I don't think I want to talk about that just yet."

My eyebrows were raised, but he wouldn't say more.

Well, apparently Newt Gingrich just said to Sean Hannity, very slowly, very carefully, that John Kerry traveled to Paris three times to meet with the Communist leadership in secret.

I think we now know what that Republican didn't yet want to talk about.

The import? That John Kerry has a decades-long habit of interjecting himself into the management of the foreign policy of this country (remember his notorious claim some months ago that he had met with certain ---undisclosed--- world leaders who wanted to see him elected?). In fact, one might even call it a unilateralist approach, hmmm? So who does this gnarled oak of a brahmin think he is? You don't go ---while an officer in the United States Navy or even as a private citizen--- to negotiate with the Communists in the middle of a war.

I have been interested in this for a while now. A lot more interested than I have been in the medals issue. This is possible treason.

This is fatal.

Working the Beat
Courtesy of The Mudville Gazette, here's a very interesting account of Lt. Kevin Irvin of Bravo Company of Arkansas' 39th Infantry Brigade and his discovery of a very special "bookstore" in Baghdad.

Inside, soldiers captured two Mahdi Army fighters, weapons, ammunition, grenades, mortars and piles of paperwork on Mahdi Army operations.

Among the paperwork were passes for Iraqi workers to enter Forward Operating Base Gunslinger, headquarters for 3rd Battalion and Bravo Company's home. "Here's one that allows a contractor to come and go without escort," Irvin said, holding up one of the plastic cards as he dug through piles of paper in the building's courtyard. "That's scary."

Read it all. And recognize that behind all of this crap our men and women are going through is the guiding hand of Iran.

When President Bush gets rehired, those pricks are going to regret their meddling. Count on it.

No Cannon Fodder for Kim
Maybe this is just the ignorant observation of a civilian, but what role does the United States Army have in a war against a nuclear-armed psychopath? We will be withdrawing from the Korean Peninsula in a pretty gradual fashion, but those who are there now are facing potential devastation that they have no means to combat.

There are only three solutions to the North Korean problem: some sort of unprecedented diplomatic overture that rips the roof of the regime there; a coup that does the same; or an overwhelming and simultaneous pre-emptive strike that leaves them broken beyond repair. The Army may have some role to play in the third option, but the sacrifices our men would have to make would dwarf those of our forces in Iraq.

Those who criticize the President for not tending to Kim first are fools who have no plan in mind, but satisfy themselves with the observation that North Korea is the more immediate danger. Yet, if they can't tolerate the losses we have suffered in Iraq, why should anyone believe that they could tolerate the greater losses we would see against North Korea?

Once again, Bush is charged with fixing the mistakes of his incompetent predecessor by a crowd of amnesiac idiots. What a surprise.

Intellectually Dishonest Hypocrites, Exposed

Courtesy of the VodkaPundit, here is your guide to the extensive array of people who work for both John Kerry and the DNC and the now-infamous 527 political groups. And here is the Ben Ginsberg column in this morning's Washington Post that calls the Democrats on the carpet for their hypocrisy.

See, if all you know about these 527 groups is that one of them is the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth and that they are commanded and controlled by Bushitler, then you are being lied to. Here's what Ginsberg has to say:

Think you're getting unbiased, balanced coverage of politics? Or is there a double standard in the way the media treat Republicans and Democrats, liberals and conservatives? My recent visit to the center of a media storm suggests there is. Consider this:

A $500,000 ad buy made by Swift Boat Veterans for Truth brings searing media scrutiny and "proof" of illegal coordination based on a lawyer (me) representing both the Bush-Cheney campaign and the Swift Boat Veterans; on an accountant working for Tom DeLay's political action committee; and on a $200,000 contributor to the group who is not a major donor to Bush-Cheney 2004 but who does know Karl Rove.

Meanwhile, the media give practically no scrutiny to a $63 million, five-month, negative-ad buy done by Democratic "527" groups (the Media Fund, MoveOn.org and others) with a revolving door of connections to the Kerry campaign.

Read the whole thing. There's no question that Big Media gives the Democrats and Kerry a free ride for their numerous and astonishing abuses of the 527 loophole while blasting the Bush campaign over something for which they have no fucking evidence!

And let me make this point again for Bush-hating dumbasses who have no sense of human realities: these Swift Boat Veterans knew John Kerry 35 years ago when he was slandering them and getting over on them for his own aggrandizement. Do you really think that they need direction from Karl Rove ---or permission from you--- to speak their minds and kick this man's ass for what he did and said with respect to them and their service? Are you such a bunch of objectifying craphounds that you should doubt that they hate John Kerry for their own reasons? These men aren't props. These men earned their right to criticize a man whom they know to be an opportunist and, in their eyes, a traitor.

Whatever it takes, see. That's all I'm saying.

A Good Sign from Florida
As John J. Miller of NRO reports:

Former housing secretary Mel Martinez won the Republican nomination for Senate tonight in Florida, defeating former congressman Bill McCollum in what may have been this year's hardest-fought GOP primary. With 92 percent of the unofficial returns in, Martinez has captured 45 percent of the vote, compared to 31 percent for McCollum.

"We won in every part of the state," says Jennifer Coxe, the communications chief for Martinez. "It speaks volumes about how well he'll do in the general election."

Martinez will fly to New York on Wednesday, and plans are already underway to have him speak at Madison Square Garden on Thursday night.

Hopefully, this will move the Latino vote for Bush, as well.

Crises Are Opportunities
Looks like the Russians are being eaten alive by Islamofascists. It won't be long until these atrocities send the Old Bear into a blood-spitting rage.

An armed group wearing suicide-bomb belts has seized a school in southern Russia and threatened to blow up 200 student hostages, news reports say.

The group is reportedly in a gun battle with police and have threatened to blow up the building if police storm it.

The well-armed group of hostage takers, which reportedly include women wearing belts laden with explosives, passed a note with the threat to police outside.

President Bush needs to invite Putin to a major pow-wow where they can decide how to address the Islamist menace together. And soon.

Then, armed with some agreement, we shall see what the Kerrion make of such a coalition of the "bribed and coerced." Wouldn't Kerry have to admit that this elusive and mythical alliance he claims to seek has been found? Oh, but he doesn't mean Russia. You know who he means.

But they're too busy trying to buy off some terrorists in Iraq, oui?

Lame-Ass
Has the shine come off of the Breck Girl yet? John Edwards is a didactic turd of a speaker and a phoney populist. Tell me again why Lurch picked this charlatan. I can't think of a single reason. He is manifestly unqualified to be the Vice President. He has no apparent grasp of History or foreign policy. He is the very definition of an empty suit.

Kerry should be defeated for no other reason than his choice of running mate. Edwards is almost as lame a nominee as Dan Quayle.
