I also read this review and it was relentless in its' petty, childish taunting. Like all the little men of his type,(Hitchens) he falls into the role of an unabashedly ignorant person who keeps hammering away at the most simplistic and doctrinaire point over and over again.
If we point out the connections between the Carlyle group and the Bin Laden family. We must want the terrorists to win and we must hate our country.
If we point out the fact that civilians with petro-business backgrounds dictated the course of the war, often in direct contradiction to what our commanders were advising, we hate our military and want them to die.
When we point out that those same people handed the military the task of rebuilding civil institutions and restoring law and order (neither of which are the responsibility of the military), we are called traitors.
When dissent is voiced it is rabidly turned upon and attacked. This is a characteristic of totalitarian dictatorships. What has happened to my country?
